Houston-based artist Shri Baratan, known musically as Nonviolenze is asking you to look inwards in his psychological and cosmic exploration of the energies we surround ourselves with.
“Mirror” comes from Nonviolenze’s album Ghosts of War, which was released on October 16th. The song is experimental in the ways that it plays with rhythm and melody. Acoustic guitar strumming becomes a tether that could snap at any moment, leaving you with the interrogative depth of the lyrics.
In the clip, which is framed by sounds of thunder and rain, Baratan stands in front of a fractal art piece with his guitar and unleashes this exploration. As minimally powerful as the song, the video also allows you to soak in the deeper meaning, free from distractions.
Nonviolenze does not shy away from big questions or dark melodies, but instead finds in them a sense of purpose to spread.
