Kemme adventures through juxtaposition with exquisite music film “Cyclorama”

There is an unmistakable sense of exploration in the sound of Kemme’s track “Cyclorama”. The song is a composite of three tracks edited to match the six minute film for an immersive experience. A soft screeching shifts to breaking glass and airy, smooth vocals become a guide down a rabbit hole. Here lays heartbreak and wavering synth sounds.

The video fits animation into a joyous-and-or-melancholy excursion from the discomforts of feminine tropes. Each time the song shifts gears (and its often), Danica Kleinknecht’s direction follows. The mood sprawls out and the wolves follow closely behind.

Eventually, the whole world becomes animated and speckled with wolves and volcanoes. The rhythm of the track picks up and psychedelic visions add a chaotic sense to the experimental melody. Is this a fight, an escape, or something in between? By the time it’s over, you’ll want to begin again. This narrative loops, and so do the catchy melodies.
